The book ‘a Theory of Fun’ by Ralph Koster arrived today. It took six weeks for Peter to order it on Amazon. It looks pretty interesting though.
Left4Dead is avaliable free on Steam tomorrow, I’m pre-loading it now.
Stephen Rodriguez – the most bizarre and wonderful French assistant to grace the Cherwell School is coming back tomorrow. He’s only going to be here for a week but I’m glad to see him all the same.

I just watched a debate between Jack Thompson and Tony Rolando about violence in video games. First I’d like to come out and say that Jack Thompson is a dick, I wish him the worst. Secondly, Tony made the point that if you don’t know your child’s top five games, then you’re not doing a good job as a parent of looking after your child. How many parents out there actually know what their children play? It’s kind of stupid. Violence in games doesn’t affect people. It should all be about the gameplay. Yes, GTA is violent, but it’s also a very good game. And the more Jack Thompson complains to the media about it, the more popular it will be. How is this? If controversy = pageviews, then controversy = popularity.

I saw a book called a Theory of Fun by Ralph Coster. It’s about game design and it’s not just full of pretty pictures. I should get round to reading it soon – ish.

At the weekend I also bought Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. And Bionic Commando.
